Eh.... The first time I ate here was almost a year ago, and I didn't feel adequate enough to write a review until I went back for one more try. So the first time I went by myself and ordered my favorite Korean spicy soup, soon du bu (soft tofu stew). I hate to be a jerk about it, but it was seriously one of the worst Asian soups I've ever had. The taste was so odd, and it actually reminded me of eating the soup-form or a tamale. I went back there today for lunch with a co-worker and I knew I had to stay away from the soup. After seeing the sign at the front door, and reading the review on here regarding their lunch special, I thought I'd try the bulgogi lunch special that came with fried rice, and stir-fried vegetables. The Korean tapas that came with my meal were tasty, but I wish it had come PRIOR to the entrees since they were taking so long in the kitchen and I was hungry and bored waiting. For an $8.99 lunch special with fried rice and sauteed cabbage, I wasn't at all impressed. The flavor of the meal really wasn't explosively good to me and there's nothing that screams "cheap" louder than sauteed cabbage and julienned carrots.

The rice on stone pot was pretty authentic with a good Korean taste. The clear noodle was not as good as expected, specially the portion was rather small given its priced at almost $10 a dish, and it was very salty (3 hours later I'm still thirsty after eating the noodle). Not bad to at least try it out, you might have better luck then me.

Bunbuku is almost weekly lunch treat for us for the past six months, and we have yet to be disappointed. The staff is polite and attentive, and the food...where do I begin? Bunbuku specializes in Japanese and Korean food. They have a daily lunch special with a choice of either beef bulgogi or chicken takgogi, served with fried or white rice and the normal Korean side items (kimchi, bean sprouts, etc), all for around $8. We have tried just about everything from yakisoba to the beef donburi to the kimchi fried rice and kimchi stew. The only thing we haven't tried is their sushi, but that's next on our list! The food is always hot and flavorful. Also we go after 12:30, and most of the lunch rush--it's a very popular restaurant--is gone. We also pre-order, and there isn't much waiting when we arrive. Just a couple final notes: -when you ask for spicy, be prepared for sinus-clearing heat -pre-ordering works out best if you're on a tight lunch break -not good for large groups...the back room only seats about 20 -they have a kids menu section in the main menu -they are closed the last Sunday of every month I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!

Everytime I'm in Sierra Vista I have to stop by Bunbuku. The champong is my absolute favorite dish and I can't find it the way I like it anywhere else. The owner produces delicious food and is the sweetest woman on earth. Bunbuku is a consistent home town treat.

This place was far overpriced for the kind of place it was. 2.50 for a fountain drink? The food was ok but the Korean staff talks about you behind your back.

PROS: Definitely Korean food/very authentic even the waitress was authentic :D, quite tasty flavors, HUGE portions, and clean environment. CONS: Expensive (ex. The same bottle of Soju in Korea is 1 dollar & here it's $14), Kimchi soup is $10 when normally it's dang near free, if you're expecting authentic korean cuisine great but don't expect authentic korean prices ;)

I have been going here for years! It's one of my favorite places to eat! The chicken bulgoki is amazing.

We're visiting Sierra Vista, AZ & love Korean food so searched out this little gem on Fry Blvd. Very friendly owner took our order & brought out many side dishes for us to share. We all tried something different & enjoyed it all. Large portions & excellent flavor... You won't be disappointed.

Best Korean food! The fried maondu is so yummy! The beef bulgoki is amazing. The service has always been great! I have no complaints here. The prices are great and the portions big. Come hungry!

Have eaten here many times since 1992. But in the past few months the food has gone down hill. Several months ago, we got Bulgogi to go. It tasted like someone had poured garlic into the food. Last night we went there and had Bulgogi again. The food has absolutely no taste. Told the waitress and her only comment was "Hmmm". At the bottom of the dish where there is usually a sacue, it was nothing but water. Very disappointing. Will not be returning. Other, much, much better Korean restaurants, are in walking distance of this one

I am visiting Sierra Vista and asked Google where I could get something to eat and Bunbuku came up. I am always up for Asian food. I ordered the Bulgogi and it did not disappoint. It was tasty and and came with many side dishes (cold slaw, kimchie, bean sprouts, salted broccoli, etc.) It was a lot of food and the owner was very pleasant. I will go there again before I leave.

Excellent food and very friendly service. This is my 2nd favorite Korean restaurant in town. Highly recommend the steamed mandu and any of the Korean meats such as the pork bulgogi and Kalbi.

recommended by a Soldier in my class that just came from Korea so I believed him. The Beef Bulgoki was very amazing and taste full. I loved all the little bowls that came out too. The bad? My wife ordered Teriyaki Steak and regular Bulgoki came out with absolutely no good flavor. Not to mention it didn't even look like Teriyaki Steak. I guess just stick to the Korean food ONLY.

I've never had Korean food before, but wanted to try some -- especially after seeing all the options in Sierra Vista. Some people at work recommended Bunbuku and gave me menu suggestions for "white people Korean food" and "real Korean food". I ultimately went with the spicy buckwheat noodles after 2 people mentioned it as a favorite. It was wonderful, and definitely worth trying (especially since you can get it as mild or as spicy as you like). This is a small restaurant, so I can see it being somewhat cramped and loud on a busy night, but there's always takeout. Entrees are generally $10-$15 and they are closed the last Sunday of each month.

I tried this place for lunch on a recent trip to the area. I opted for the spicy stir fried squid and asked for it extra hot. This is what I like most about Korean restaurants...they are not afraid to give it to you the way you ask for it. The Mamasan even came out of the kitchen to serve it to me and to tell me she made it 'extra special tasty" for me. And this was in the middle of a busy lunch hour. It was like napalm on a plate. I loved it. The chili sauce she used was not only nuclear hot but extremely flavorful. What I appreciated most, though, was that they gave it to me the way I asked for it and the squid wasn't overcooked. Not rubbery at all. Every bite was tender and delicious. I debated taking away a star since they were out of OB beer. I had to settle for a Kirin. But in the end I didn't really care. I was too busy wiping my eyes and trying to breathe through my endorphin rush.

Ordered dinner late on a weekday. Had their Kalbi and wasn't impressed. The serving sizes are large though. For the taste of the food, I don't think the price was worth it--sorry.

I'm highly critical of Korean food. The food was terrible. Very dusty atmosphere. I am NOT a fan! The steamed mandu was disgusting; I could NOT eat it- the meat looked uncooked. & when I inquired about it- the waitress said that is how it's supposed to be. I'm Korean- & I know that's NOT how mandu is supposed to look like, OR taste like. The soon dubu jigae was OK. But, it wasn't good enough to prompt me to go back. SORRY!
